The Cleveland Fire Department responded to a car blaze on Sonny Rd. (across Raleigh Road, opposite the Hunting Ridge subdivision) this afternoon.

Local residents heard noises "like someone was shooting a gun" (caused by the tires exploding).  A member of the Elevation Fire Department saw the smoke and alerted others in the area to call in the alarm.

The car was an obvious total loss, with the intense heat also damaging the newly paved road surface.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.  The owner of the vehicle reported that the engine began smoking and had left the vehicle to get help from a friend.  He returned to find the car totally engulfed in flames.
