Almost a year to the day, the old Cleveland Middle School gym was once again adorned with a red carpet runway for the second annual "Womanless Pageant."  Presented by the Crossroads Civitan, this years event brought in an estimated crowd of nearly 300.

The festivities were presided over by Master of Ceremony Jerry Agar (from the popular afternoon talk show on AM 680 WPTF.)  Jerry's wit kept the show running smoothly as the audience was treated to the contestants performing in evening gowns, bathing suites and talent competitions.  The panel of judges kept close watch and scored each performer, listening carefully as each also answered a specially prepared, impromptu question.

The audience was treated to a series of door prizes provided by local merchants during stage changes, as well as a 50/50 raffle.

With anticipation running high, the runner up's and winner was finally announced, with "Macka Bella" (an officer on the Clayton police force) picking up the crown of Ms. Crossroads Civitan, plus a check for $1,000 - extra incentive this year provided by Ashley Turner Building Co, Inc.

Crossroads Civitan is a local civic group that meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at the Golden Corral at 40/42.  New members are always welcome and encouraged to attend.  Other projects include Red Cross blood drives, Adopt-A-Highway, Christmas Sharing, Thanksgiving Meals, Poker Run and booths at local events like the Cleveland July 4th Celebration.

It was a full house!  The bleachers were full as the show began at the old Cleveland Middle School gym.

Master of Ceremony, WPTF's Jerry Agar looks on as the contestants work the crowd during one of their group performances.

Talent came in the form of dancing, lion taming, singing and lots more!

You can dress them up, but you can't take them out!

The competitors wait anxiously for the judges to finish tallying their votes.

"Macka Bella" is announced as the new Ms. Crossroads Civitan!
