Clayton Chamber Celebrates Successful Year at 51st Annual Banquet

The Clayton Chamber held it's 51st Annual Installation & Awards Banquet on January 29th.  With approximately 200 people in attendance, the Clayton Middle School cafeteria was packed.  Clayton Chamber, Clayton Rotary, Clayton Civitan and Downtown Development Association presented awards.

Mary Whitney Dupree help to start the banquet with "God Bless America" and guests were entertained by Ray Wilkinson of WRAL with his famous mule stories. 

If the large crowd gathered for the event didn't speak accomplishment for the Clayton Chamber, 70 new members in 2001 does.  Ann Game, the new 2002 Clayton Chamber President has her work cut out for her.

Dianne Thompson, 2001 Clayton Chamber President, recognized officers and directors.  The Clayton Chamber's Board of Directors is a volunteer organization.  Giving their time and efforts for the betterment of Clayton.

Clayton Community Enhance Awards were presented to The Walthom Group III for Planet Fitness renovations and to Caterpillar for improving their natural environment landscaping.

Clayton Rotary presented the Community Service Award to Jim Lee.  Mr. Lee is the first ever Clayton Rotarian to be presented with this award.  Clayton Civitan awarded their Community Service Award to Judy Smith of Clayton.  The 2001 Small Business of the Year Award goes to Bob Satterfield of SignAge of the Carolinas. 

Rev. Dr. John A. Allen presented the 2001 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award to Mr. Bill O'Neal.
