Governor Easley Visits Cleveland Elementary School

A local 4042.com feature

[3/2/01]

On Friday morning, Governor Mike Easley took time out of his busy schedule to visit Cleveland Elementary School.  The Governor made his visit to help students celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, and to gather information on the school's preschool program

His wife was also into the spirit of reading and was meeting with children at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh.  This visit to Cleveland Elementary School is just one in numerous trips to various schools to help assess the condition of North Carolina's school systems and the progress of our children's education.  Many visitors and press were present at the school to welcome the Governor, and the faculty and students were honored to have such a distinguished guest visiting their school.

One of the second grade classes had the privilege of hearing the Governor read a Dr. Seuss book, and he informed the students that he was a huge fan of Dr. Seuss and even quizzed them on a little trivia about the author.  Everyone was very excited to have this opportunity, and it gave the Governor a chance to get out of the office and be a kid again.  Many thanks to the Governor and congratulations to Cleveland Elementary School!
