| On June 3, 2000 the 6th Annual Golfing for Jessica Benefit sponsored by Oakland Presbyterian Church will be held at Reedy Creek Golf course.Jessica is a teenager with cerebral palsy who requires the use of a wheelchair to get around at home and school. The proceeds from this event will help Jessica in many ways. The church purchased
a wheelchair equipped van in the spring of 1999 using private donations from church and community members, and by taking out a loan. This annual event helps not only in assisting to meet the initial cost of the van but in its day to day upkeep.Jessica lives with her mother, Joy, and her twelve year old sister,
Rachel. Jessica attends Cleveland Middle School. Jessica has participated in cheerleading, soccer, and is an active member of Girl Scouts. Joy, a single parent, has been a cheerleading coach, basketball coach, Girl Scout leader, vacation bible school worker, volunteer for the Special Olympics World Games, and organized fund raising efforts for the church and community. Jessica and her family give much to their church and their community. We have
filled 22 tee times at Reedy Creek on June 3, 2000. Of the money collected from players for golf, $30 is contributed by each player for Jessica. In addition to the proceeds collected from the golf, we also seek businesses, charitable organizations, and individuals willing to sponsor a hole for the cost of $50. On the day of golf, signs for all business sponsors and charitable organizations are placed on the tee boxes throughout the golf course The
day of golfing will be followed by a fellowship supper at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Oakland Presbyterian Church. We are expecting good weather and lots of fun as Jessica, Joy, and Rachel join us at Reedy Creek for a day of golfing. Mark your calendars for June 3 to participate in the 6th Annual Golfing for Jessica Benefit.
