[8/03/00] Johnston County Schools have picked up their first "School of Excellence" honor for Clayton Middle School. Eleven schools are "Schools of Distinction." But Superintendent Jim Causby says other schools are having a harder time earning honors, because of the formula linked to the states A-B-C program. "Schools
are continuing to increase student achievement and have more students performing at grade level, which we've done. But schools are also finding it harder now to continue to meet the growth expectations. As they get better, it becomes more difficult to meet those." Causby says he's pleased every Johnston County School has higher test scores than the state average. He says school officials will continue
to work to boost scores for all students. Did you see our previous local features? Would you like your school, community organization, or local event featured on 4042.com? Become one of our
