Building, Building and MORE Building!

A local 4042.com feature

[9/5/02)

Seems like no matter where you look, new commercial construction is happening!  Our latest local update is a review of what's being built with some pics of the progress.

We start off our tour with a trip down 42 towards Clayton, where we discovered that the second phase of Anna Place is almost full!  Located there are Unique Concepts, Grace Fellowship Church, GXI International, and NCSC.  (We'll have more info on what some of these businesses provide as soon as the Web Dog can dig it up!  If you know, help him out by e-mailing us here!)

Also on Hwy 42, across from Peddler's Village, you've no doubt seen the progress being made on the new Ashley Turner building.  Check out the picture to the right - it's a view of the back of this "seeming to get larger everyday" project!

Behind the CVS and Waffle House, you'll find a lot of progress being made on the new State Employee's Credit Union building.  Foundation is in and the walls are going up quick!

In the center of Peddler's Village is the space once occupied by Factory Direct Mattress.  It is currently being used on Sunday's as the meeting spot for Faith Alive church.  They are using this location temporarily while their new building is being constructed, located across from Medicap Pharmacy.  On the other side of Medicap, work is progressing on Smithfields Kid's Care of Cleveland.

The Web Dog checked out the new section of Peddler's Village (between the new Credit Union and Grand Prix Carwash).  Surprise!  Looks like most of the new spaces will be taken by existing businesses in the area!   Expect to see LDR Flooring, Mailboxes, Etc, LaFavorita, Floor Mark, and Cleveland Auto Repair Service all setup shop in the new building.  (What's going to happen to their old spots?  We'll keep an eye on it and let you know!)

River Oakes shopping center is going into it's second phase.  The steel frame is already in place between Andy's Cheesesteaks and Jersey Mike's.  Look across the street, behind the Golden Corral, and you'll see that a large lot has been cleared and graded.  Yet another job for the Web Dog to find out what is planned there!

Heading down Cleveland Rd. from the 40/42 intersection and you have been used to seeing Carolina Builders over the years.  You've also probably noticed that there has been a name change recently, to Stock Building Supply.  Not a new company...our source tells us it's just a case of Carolina Builders taking on the name of the larger, parent corporation to consolidate their national image and purchasing strength.  Different name, same game!

To close out this whirlwind tour of local commercial construction, we pay a visit to Exit 319, where the new Food Lion shopping center is nearing completion.  We see daily activity as the interior finishing is wrapped up - shouldn't be long now!
