Miss a day or two
driving around the Cleveland area and you can miss a lot!  Hang on to your mouse and scroll through our latest update.....

New Construction

Behind the current Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department is the sign announcing the construction of a new facility.  Our source tells us that it should be ready by early spring.

Drive through the area near the intersection of Pleasant Coates and Raleigh Road and you'll see the evidence of construction starting for the new West Johnston High School.

At the corner of Josephine and Cleveland Rd. they are well underway with the new elementary school, slated to open August 2001.  [NOTE!! Speculation is that it may be year round, based on community interest.  Watch for more on this here on 4042.com!]

Our namesake intersection continues to sprout new structures, although some remain a mystery at this point.  Looks like another office complex to be located across from Lynne's Workout, while we are still guessing on what is being built behind McDonald's.  Got an educated guess or the actual scoop?  Tell us! (Webmaster note:  Thanks to those of you who filled us in on the construction taking place behind McDonalds.  We've been told it will be an office building to house the operations of the company that owns the 40/42 McDonalds, in addition to others.)

Exit 319 - a 40/42 Twin?

The pace is starting to pick up at Exit 319 as more development takes place in the McGee's Crossroads area.

At the I-40 Super Gas, Papa's Pizza is now open, with the new Dairy Queen to come online this Saturday.  [NOTE!! Our source tells us that there is a possibility this DQ will be open at 5:30am for breakfast.  Yes..they have a drive-thru!]

And while we are on the subject of food, have you noticed that Blimpie's has been replaced at the Texaco by the White Swan, offering BBQ and fried chicken.  They will do well if they meet the standard set by Smithfield's BBQ.

40/42 New Openings

A wide selection of jewelry is available at the just opened Diamonds and Gold Direct, located across the street from the Goodyear store in the River Oaks shopping center.  (Plan a visit soon guys..."tis' the season" is coming up fast and jewelry ALWAYS fits!)

Also open for business this week is the Dollar World store, another of the new residents in the River Oaks center.  The walls are lined and the shelves stocked with all those items that you never knew you needed!  Plan on stopping by and browsing soon and welcome them to the area.

We'll have more on it later, but work continues at the new auto and truck accessories store that is opening in the Country Video location in Peddler's Village .  We'll also have more soon on the Nextel sign that has gone up at Peddler's.

Blatant Self Promotion
