[8/19/00]
Between 5:30pm and 6:00pm
on Friday, a tornado was reported to have touched down at the corner of Technology Dr and Glenn Rd at the 40/42 intersection.

The owners of the newly opened fresh seafood market, She Sells Seafood, spotted the funnel from outside their store.  They, along with three customers took shelter in a bathroom located in the back of the facility.  They reported that "the building felt like a vacuum from all the pressure."

The windows of the Wachovia Bank building were blown out, as were those of the First Citizens Bank. Repairs began last night and were continuing on Saturday.

Sandra Moore of Source of Truth saw the tornado from the front of her store. "By the grace of God we were saved, " stated Moore.  Approximately seven customers sought shelter in the back of the store as the funnel swept through the area.

No injuries were reported and damage apprears to be limited to broken windows and signs, with the familiar McDonald's "golden arches" being left tattered.

There were also reports that three 18-wheel trailers, commonly parked in the lot between McDonald's and Wachovia, were turned over by the high winds.

There was considerable lightening associated with the storms that passed through the Cleveland area last night, with power outages occurring in many areas.
