for the Crossroads Civitan "Womanless Pageant" came away with a night to remember this past Saturday. As the lights dimmed
to a thumping beat from the sound system, the audience was introduced to 10 local "beauties" who had gathered to compete for the title of "Ms. Crossroads Civitan." From the very beginning the contestants worked the crowd, intent on picking up votes from the panel of judges.
Following the first of numerous door prize drawings during the evening, the contestants took to the stage for a group performance to the tune of Shania Twain's "Man, I Feel Like a Woman!"
The individual talent portion of the program allowed contestants to score points with singing, dancing, original poetry and more. (Yes, golf skills were even demonstrated as well as a split personality performance of "Islands in the Stream!") A brief intermission which followed didn't slow the entertainment as members of the audience formed a conga dance line and snaked through the gym.
Coming back from the break, the contestants provided another group
performance, taking their cue from the song "Man Hunt" and heading into the audience to select their "victims." (Note: Take it from someone who was there...the $5 ticket was worth it just based on the frantic look on the faces of some audience members as the pageant beauties selected them to dance with or sit in their laps.)
Of course, no pageant
would be complete without evening gowns, and the 10 contestants managed (somehow) to slip into the their outfits and navigate the red carpet runway in heels. The competition was wrapped up with each participant being asked a unique question. (This is the point where we tell you "ya shoulda' been there! You had to hear it to believe it!")
When the final tallies were complete, the results were:
Ms. Congeniality: "Rump Punzel"
1st Runner-Up: "Racy Rockett"
2nd Runner-Up: "Sassy Stephie"
Ms. Crossroads Civitan: "Sherry Flambe"
