Car Fire at 40/42 Intersection

On April 30th at approximately 7:30pm the Cleveland Fire Department was called to the McDonald's parking lot at the 40/42 intersection.

They were responding to a fire that had occured in a car, parked directly in front of the popular local restaurant.

The initial blaze was put out by a McDonald's employee making use of a dry chemical fire extinguisher.  However, the car was still smoldering and the responding firefighters used a hose to wet down the smoking vehicle.  Protected from the fumes and smoke with their protective gear, they removed charred pieces of the interior, checking further for hot spots.

The heat from the fire was intense enough to shatter the front windshield and the interior of the car was badly damaged, the front seats being almost totally burned out.

No injuries were reported at the time and the cause of the fire was not known.
