Prom Set To Hawaiian Theme

ALOHA! Welcome to South Johnston's Junior-Senior Prom 2000.  Held April 20, at the American Legion Building in Benson, South Johnston's Prom was as invigorating as the waves in Hawaii!  "The Big Kahuna" took place form 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. that evening.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, among the beach scene and the airy atmosphere.

Who planned this excitement?  The junior class of South Johnston, of course.  Class President, Leigh Massengill.  Many students spent much time preparing for this event.  The American Legion Building went from an ordinary room to a Luau on the beach.  The sophomore waiters and waitresses added to the picture wearing Hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts, and sandals.

This year's prom king and queen were John Parker and Candace Moore. They were announced shortly after the touching Senior Salute, displaying the seniors past four years at South Johnston.  No one will ever forget this night, which will forever be imprinted in the hearts of all who went
