JCI operates several retail establishments in the community (Selma Train Depot, Cyber Cafe, and the JCI Thrift Store). According to Patricia Little, JCI Director of Program Services, "these establishments provide integrated training for our clients to learn work ethics, various skill sets and transition to the world of work as well as provide opportunities for individual competitive employment. Additionally, clients work at various businesses in the community, we are thankful for the support of the local businesses as we partner to create work opportunities!"
The newest addition to the JCI family is the opening of the "JCI Pre-Owned Office Furniture & Electronics Store." The store is located at 912 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. in Smithfield, it is right next door to the JCI Thrift Store and JCI "Yes I Can Program". The 10,000 square foot showroom is filled with a complete inventory of desks, chairs, vertical and lateral files, partition/desk cubicles along with a huge selection of printers and electronics. All items in the showroom are high-end, exceptional, commercial quality, with an affordable price tag. The store will operate: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00 pm.
The Grand Opening is Thursday, September 19, 2013, plan on attending the Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10:00 am.
The revenues earned by the JCI Office Furniture and Electronic store provide job training, job placement and financial support to our vocational training and employment programs.
