Johnston County had a discharge of untreated wastewater from the County's pump station located on Old Roberts Road near McGee's Crossroads, N.C., of approximately 4,000 gallons. The discharge occurred on August 20, 2008, for approximately one hour. There was approximately 3,000 gallons of untreated wastewater that was discharged to Big Beaver Dam Branch. The spill was due to a pipe failure. The sewer line was repaired and the area cleaned. The County pumped approximately 8,000 gallons from Big Beaver Dam Branch and discharged it back into the sanitary sewer system.
