In Downtown Smithfield, several small business have stepped up locally, regionally and nationally in the efforts to assist the earthquake victims in the devastated country of Haiti.
The Diner located at 314 East Market Street in Downtown Smithfield will be donating 10% of their sales during the week of {mosimage}February 15 through February 20. Working with the Johnston County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Diner owners Larry and Amy Holt will also serve as a donation drop off point during this time as well.
"Continuing to see the blight and suffering on TV weeks after the catastrophe, we felt we needed to do something," states Amy Holt. "We consider ourselves blessed here in the States and encourage others to look for ways to assist the suffering citizens of Haiti."
Just around the corner from the Diner, Stacy Borelli owner of Swank Photo Studio located at 108 South Third Street is working with other top professional photographers from around the state. "Clicks for Quakes" is a charity being organized by North Carolina photographers and will donate 100% of their session fees to Lime-Aid.tv to help Haiti.
{mosimage}"During the month of February, we are inviting customers to enjoy a photo shoot knowing that 100% of the funds raised will go toward a great cause," states Borelli. "For each 15 minute session, $50 will be donated. As a thank you, customers will receive one complimentary high resolution digital file to use for your own personal use.
