(Smithfield, NC) Johnston County would like to ensure that all citizens affected by the tornado have the necessary items to begin rebuilding their lives.

Should you, your neighbors, or someone you know have needs that have not been met by either local community efforts or insurance, please have them contact Johnston County Emergency Services. It is important that you share the following contact information with those who have no phone service.

The State of North Carolina received a federal disaster declaration from President Obama on April 19, 2011 for 10 of the affected counties which included Johnston County. Citizens should contact FEMA at (800) 621.3362 or www.fema.gov.

Farmers who experienced damage can apply to two state programs at their county Farm Service offices. The Johnston County Cooperative Extension Office is located at 2736 NC 210 Hwy, Smithfield, NC. Agents can be reached at (919) 989.5380 between the hours of 8AM - 5PM Monday - Friday.
