{mosimage}The Johnston County Airport celebrated their 2007 Open House in September. Included in the activities were Military and Civil Aircraft Displays, remote control aircraft and free "Young Eagle Flights" for those ages 8-17.
A very significant presence at the Open House was the Civil Air Patrol Cadets. This is a program available for 12 to 21 year olds. The CAP's goal is to develop leadership and technical skills as well as learn about aviation and space.
They also learn and savor training in advanced technologies, survival, search and rescue, leadership, radio communications, model rocketry, flight training, CPR, photography, astronomy, physical fitness, sports and much more.Also located at the Johnston County Airport is JNX Flight Training. JNX flight is dedicated to providing quality flight instruction, aircraft rental, pilot services, and pilot supplies to the aviation community of Johnston County. They offer flight training for private and commercial license, the instrument and multi-engine and instructor ratings and complex aircraft endorsement.
The airport is located 28 nautical miles southeast of RDU. The Johnston County airport provides convenient access to numerous piedmont and eastern North Carolina destinations.
{mosimage}The Johnston County Airport Terminal Building is open and fuel service is available seven days a week from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday - Friday and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekends.
