The number of employed county residents actually increased by more than 600 in June, totaling 69,826. N.C. State economics professor Michael Walden cautioned against viewing that increase as a silver lining to the figures released Friday by the state's Employment Security Commission. "The seasonal adjustment always revises the employment numbers down in June due to the increase in part-time summer jobs for high school and college students," Walden said. "So I wouldn't interpret the recent job numbers as a positive trend."
