Neuse Charter School – only Public School of Choice in Johnston County--celebrated the graduation of its 2nd senior class of thirty-four students on June 5, 2015.

All of the school’s thirty-four seniors (100%) completed all graduation requirements, and 96% of the class has been accepted to an institution of higher education.

Especially remarkable about this class of Neuse Charter graduates, is that the students have been awarded close to a combined ONE MILLION DOLLARS in scholarship money, most of which is based on academic merit and performance. Colleges to which students were accepted include The University of Alabama, Auburn University, North Carolina State University, East Carolina University, Southern Illinois University and twenty-one others.

The Valedictorian for the Class of 2015 was Skyler O’Conner and the Salutatorian was Aggie Karafas.

"This class deserves special recognition, not just for their academic prowess, but for what I have seen them demonstrate on a daily basis as students— leadership, problem-solving skills, teamwork and collaboration, and respect for themselves and all others. These graduates emulate what every school would want for their graduating seniors," said Executive Director, Dr. Julie Jailall.

Neuse Charter School Board of Directors recognized this graduating class as a landmark event that culminates its seven years of existence as a successful charter school in Johnston County and the first class to graduate from their new High School building. The School looks forward to the future as they begin construction this summer on additional classrooms and parking areas. Neuse Charter has been in existence since 2007. It is currently a K-12 school with 860 students enrolled and 418 on the waiting list. Students at NCS come mainly from JCS, but also from Wake, Wayne, Wilson Harnett, and Nash Rocky Mount.
