{mosimage}The students of the West Johnston High School Band have accepted an invitation to perform in the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The West Johnston Band is the first band in the history of Johnston County to receive the prestigious honor of performing in the 2008 Macy's Parade, and is one of only five high school bands invited nationwide.
Currently ranked 15th in the nation, our students have earned the privilege of representing our state, county, and school system at the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Parade, the Main Street America Parade at Walt Disney World, and at the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The students demonstrate commitment, hard work and dedication to excellence not only in school, performance, and rehearsal, but also in their daily lives.
The WJHS Band Parents Association is currently raising funds to help the 200 band students pay for the cost of this trip. Your financial support can help make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity a reality for the WJHS Band students. Fundraising opprtunities include:
Car Wash Competition with a pep band at various locations August 30: Come see us at Lowe's Foods (50/42), Dunn Gas & Grocery and Edwards Foods in Four Oaks September 6, 6pm:
BBQ Dinner & Bingo with Cake Walks & Face Painting (eat in or take out!) in the West Johnston High School cafeteria. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. September 20, 4-7pm.
Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A at White Oak Raffle: $5 Raffle with $2.50 of each ticket sold going to your child's account and $2.50 to the Macy's fund. Prizes are: 1st prize: A Nintendo Wii (includes one game); 2nd prize: a weekend get away (includes $200 in hotel gift cards, $50 gas card & a $50 restaurant gift card); 3rd prize: $250 in cash!
